Instructions for use THERMOWHITE insulation fill
These instructions describe how ThermoWhite insulation fill should be stored, mixed, installed and disposed of to prevent EPS particles (< 5 mm) from being blown away or lost.
1. Delivery and Storage
- When working with bagged goods, use only unopened original containers (bags/big bags) from Thermowhite.
- Store the containers protected from the weather (rain, wind, direct sunlight).
- Avoid damaging the bags. If a bag tears, sweep up the material immediately and dispose of it properly or use it immediately.
2. Mixing and Preparation
- The Thermowhite EPS granulate must be mixed with the Thermowhite binding agent and water on site in closed mixers or in mixing containers designed for this purpose.
- Avoid loose pouring or shoveling of the EPS beads to prevent them from blowing away.
- It is essential to strictly adhere to the manufacturer's specifications for binder addition and water quantity to ensure complete coating of the EPS particles (< 5 mm). The material must be solid when dry.
- Observe the specified mixing time to ensure homogeneous and complete bonding of each EPS grain.
3. Installation and Processing
- The mixed fill should be transported to the installation site with as little dust as possible (e.g., by pumping with a closed mobile mixing plant or in designated mixing containers).
- In case of rain, immediately after installation of the fill outdoors (pool, flat roof), the fill must be covered with a protective layer (for example PE film, tarpaulin, etc.) to prevent loose EPS particles (< 5 mm) from being washed away or blown away.
- Work in low wind conditions; in windy conditions, protective measures (e.g., temporary enclosures, tarpaulins) must be taken to prevent particles from being blown away.
4. Cleaning and Disposal
- Keep the construction site and mixing areas clean at all times. Sweep up any residue with a damp broom to prevent small particles from being stirred up.
- Collect all waste, especially EPS granulate or residues of unbound fill, and dispose of it properly (residual waste or hazardous waste in accordance with local regulations).
- Clean tools and mixers over a collection container to prevent rinse water containing EPS particles (< 5 mm) from entering the environment.
- After completing the work, thoroughly check the area for any remaining particles.
